Turn On/Off sync for SharePoint Document Library
There are mainly 2 ways to disable sync for SharePoint Document Library: We’ll see both the process in detail. The SharePoint Document Library offers a secure place to store files where its users and their co-workers locate them easily, work together, and if need be, access them from any device at any time. For instance, users of the SharePoint service can use a document library on a site in SharePoint Online to store all files related to a specific task. They can add files or move them between folders by simply carrying out the drag-n-drop operation.
1] Enable or Disable sync for SharePoint Document Library at the library level
Go to the desired library, click ‘Library’ and choose ‘Library Settings’ from the the Settings group.
Then, from the ‘General Settings’ window that appears, click on the ‘Advanced Settings’ link.
Now, scroll down until you locate ‘Offline Client Availability’ section It bears the following description – ‘Allow items from this document library to be downloaded to offline clients’. Depending on your requirement, simply check the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ circle, marked against the option.
2] Enable or disable sync for SharePoint Document Library at the site level
The method described above enables/disables SharePoint sync at the particular library where you have just changed the settings. So, if your site is supporting multiple document libraries, you will need to do repeat the above steps individually for all the Document Libraries. However, there’s a shortcut to it. Find it below! If you are a site administrator, go to ‘Settings’ again, choose ‘Site Settings’. There, locate ‘Search and Offline availability’ (it is visible under ‘Search’ section).
Scroll down to ‘Offline Client Availability’ (Specify whether this site should be available for offline clients) section. Here, enable/disable sync for SharePoint Document Library by checking the ‘yes’ or ‘No’ circle, just beneath ‘Allow items from this site to be downloaded to offline clients’.
